Our service starts from the moment a client first contacts us. We help our cusomers plan their events, pick the venue, create a menu, and provide five star hospitality service.

Founder and President
Born and raised in Cleveland, Joan grew up in a warm and embracing family that loved to cook and entertain. Early on she developed a passion for hospitality. Joan is graduate of the University of Denver Hotel and Restaurant Management School, with an MBA from Cleveland State University, Joan's career spans several large and respected food and hospitality corporations including: Hyatt Hotels, Kraft Foods, CPC Foods and Diamond Crystal Foods. In 1997, though, Joan left corporate life to create her own business.
As a business owner, Joan is deeply proud of the top notch staff she has assembled and nurtured. Joan is also deeply committed to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. In her spare time Joan directs the St Augustine 'Holiday meals for the Homeless and Home-bound," program. She is a board member for the Animal Protective League of Cleveland. On most Sunday mornings Joan walks unadopted dogs at the APL's kennels. Joan is also an avid golfer.
With over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Mike Smith delights our clients with innovative, five star restaurant quality cuisine. A native of Labrador, Canada Mike developed his love for cooking at his mother's side in a family that valued food and celebration. Mike joined Marigold in 2007 after successful stints at several top Cleveland restaurants, and thus brings a fine dining sensibility to all of our events. Mike has a true passion for food and service, an eye for visual excitement , and a tremendous attention to detail. He takes great pride in his ability to lead a talented staff of cooks and bakers producing world class cuisine for events of all sizes. Mike is in constant contact with vendors, growers and artisanal food producers to stay on top of new food trends and local offerings. He loves to create new and exciting menu items to wow our clients and their guests.
Director of Sales
Vicki’s mantra is personalization, planning each and every event as if it were her own. She strives to get to know clients and understand what they truly want to achieve whether the perfect party theme, menu or presentation style. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, she has learned to execute gatherings of all sizes and budget levels. In 2015, Vicki was nominated for Cleveland Business Connects Event Planner of the Year. She relishes her time being a mom and loves planning parties for her kids, family and friends. Katie earned her degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Findlay. After graduation she launched her career as a banquet professional, serving numerous weddings, mitzvahs, corporate meetings and private dining functions both large and small. Since joining Marigold, Katie has earned a reputation for carefully planning and managing multiple daily events and says the best part of her job is that no two days are ever the same. She’s an easy-going event planner who keeps her cool when the unexpected happens and is happiest when delivering exceptional service, leaving smiles on her clients’ faces. When she's not working, you can find Katie dancing, spending time with family and friends and trying new restaurants.
Chelsea Gerken has a passion for the underdog city of Cleveland; its people, its food and its sports teams. She specializes in making an event special through meaningful details and impeccable food. She comes to Marigold with a Master’s Degree in Communication Management, six years of event planning experience at John Carroll University and wedding planning in the Greater Cleveland area. Chelsea’s creative background and passion allow her to create and collaborate on exceptional events that radiate the client’s vision. When she’s not planning or organizing something, Chelsea can be found sharing a vanilla sprinkle donut with her pup, Mazie.
Facility Sales & Event Manager at MOCA
Jamie is a Cleveland native who earned her degree from Ursuline College in 2000. Despite her degree in graphic design, Jamie knew her calling was in event planning. With over 15 years of sales experience, she most recently worked in Development and Fundraising before coming to Marigold in November 2015. Jamie loves being a part of the process from beginning to end and helping her clients visions come to fruition. She loves getting to work with such a wide range of people and the variety of events that comes with it. Corporate Event Planner
Amanda graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Hospitality Management. She has been working in the food service industry for over 12 years and her most recent jobs include the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland and Firestone Country Club. Amanda loves working with food and getting creative in the kitchen. She loves creating fun dishes for her friends and family to try. Her favorite part of catering is helping clients plan their event and hearing positive feedback afterward!Contact Amanda
Marie grew up working in the hospitality industry in Tennessee and decided to move to Pittsburgh in 2007 to attend culinary school. She graduated with a degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management from the Le Cordon Bleu Program, where she met her husband, a Cleveland native. Shortly after moving to Cleveland in 2011, Marie joined the Marigold team and has worked in various roles within the company. With over 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Marie uses her knowledge to ensure that events are produced and executed with accuracy and precision. When not at work, you can find Marie trying out fun menu ideas out on friends or spending time with her family.
Eun-Joo comes to Marigold Catering by way of Philadelphia, San Francisco and Las Vegas, where she earned her hospitality stripes on the dazzling Strip. After obtaining her MBA at Drexel University and working in the business continuity sector for a number of years, she's thrilled to bring her creative energy and keen eye for detail back to the world of food & beverage. Outside of work, Eun-Joo is an adventurous cook and eater, a violinist with the Heights Chamber Orchestra, and dabbles in woodworking and other crafty ventures. She is a huge fan of the strong maker culture and local mom & pops fostered in the cool, creative city of Cleveland and loves exploring its various nooks and crannies.

We have a strong commitment to philanthropy and social causes and through our Marigold Outreach Program we seek to strengthen the well being of our community and the environment. Our "pop-up" Renegade Lunch events raise thousands of dollars for local nonprofit service organizations. Through our "Green Restaurant" certification initiative we have adopted operational procedures that promote a healthier and more sustainable environment.
